Graham Cluley pm, February 6, It was a disjointed feeling, probably similar to how it feels to get mugged by your favorite TV magician. You might well wonder why Wacom drawing tablets feel the need to record the name of every single application you run on your private, personal laptop and send it back to Wacom.
Could you please ensure to remember the setting across updates? Thank you. The first is a principled fuck you. The second is that we can also come up with scenarios that involve real harms. Maybe the very existence of a program is secret or sensitive information.
We can get more subtle. I personally use Google Analytics to track visitors to my website.
Is it possible to write a programme that would kick in when I'm not at my desk, which accessing random applications in rapid succession. The programme could be written in one of those new 4GL languages that painlessly generate the code for you. The schematic we would draw fpr the 4gL compiler to convert in Cobol would make my machine jump from one web site to the next, leading the Wacom fox-hounds and the Google Hunts men on a merry dance across the filed of cyberia Hopefully within safe parameters.
The burden of keeping up with this would send the Google Analytics spy into overdrive and the mainframe computer running this machine would begin to smoke as its big circular tape drives whizzed back and forth in rapid succession. Eventually, if television depictions are accurate, the machine would explode and all the Google engineers would be covered in soot from the head to lab coat.
Yes, I'm possibly showing my age by saying 'programme' but you know what I'm saying, surely. Your email address will not be published. This site uses Akismet to reduce spam. This site in other languages x.I tried to find an answer and whatever I tried, I can't get the Pen app to start. The pen works but the app where you can change the sensitivity etc doesn't work. The wacom service is running, I de-installed the apps, reinstalled the apps, both the Lenovo as the Wacom version but if I start one of them it just doesn't seem to do anything. No error, no flash of a program, nothing. I'm pretty handy with computers but a bit out of clues as I don't get why the app doesn't start since my pen works, is connected etc.
Of course I downloaded latest drivers for the laptop but still no luck. Hope someone has some other things I can try so I can access the pens sensitivity etc settings. Yesterday I had an emails back and forward with Lenovo support.
Support Your Way
First suggestion was to reinstall Windows. Not the suggestion I think is really something to solve one app which ain't working. But I looked in the event log from Windows and send the output to support. I got this link back which has a lot of things about the error in the Event Log. It seems to have something to do with the user profile. But even after creating another user I still couldn't start the Pen Setting app. I will try some more but since I did a fresh install of all and all other stuff is working great I still think it has something to do with the Pen App.
Still odd since the Wacom version of the app does exactly the same. So I'm out of clues still but if I found something which does help I'll post it here.
It seems to have stopped working after an automatic App update from the Microsoft Store. However today the App is again not starting anymore. It must be fixed by Wacom. But he said it only worked once. Just reset the laptop and the pen app still works. That's nice! So far so good : Thanks! I tried here and even after restart it works.
