Comment: Exams weren't bad, but she was definitely my least favorite of the 3. Comment: Jaime Cate is a pretty cool Professor, and teaches, in my opinion, the easiest part of Chem C Much easier than the physical chemistry oriented aspects of the course that come later on. JC enjoys cracking the occasional joke and bringing in outside examples, which I really enjoy. He can sometimes be kind of monotone, but not as much as other elderly Professors, and is very approachable.
Head-Gordon was my least favorite. She enjoys asking questions to the entire class while she lectures, which often serves to just slow down the lecture when no one raises their hand. She's also quite intimidating, and although I usually am a very vocal participant in most lectures, I sat quitely while she lectured, afraid of saying the wrong answer.
Her exam came out to be easier than I thought, and she is quite helpful during office hours although still intimidating. Comment: I believe many of the negative ratings are skewed by Chem 4B.
Professor Cate is a very approachable, nice lecturer, and includes the occasional joke in many of his lectures. He puts all of his lectures on annotated slides, and posts them online later, which is helpful. Overall, an okay Professor.
Comment: The main issue I have with Krantz's portion of the class was that there's a lot of material and his lecturing style isn't always clear and to the point. His derivations are kind of hard to follow sometimes, and while you're never expected to regurgitate them on exams, derivations in general help you understand where everything comes from. That said, Krantz is a really mellow and cheerful guy. Homeworks are ok, but they tend to be more simplistic and plug and chug than his actual exam questions.

Comment: I really enjoyed professor Cate's portion of this class. It's basically a much more detailed version of the first third of Bio 1A. By the way, don't bother taking Bio 1A as a prereq for this class, you don't need it if you've had AP Bio. Cate's lectures are very clean and to the point, and the homeworks really help to demonstrate the most important points.
